1 Peter 1:1-4 (New International Version)

1 Peter 1

 1. Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,
      To God's elect, strangers in the world, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, 2. who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood:
      Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

Praise to God for a Living Hope
 3. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4. and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you,

I cannot believe that Christmas is so near!  Everything is happening so quickly.  When it is summer 24/7 for 365 days of the year, winter has a way of sneaking up on you!

The sad news, my Grandpa Miller passed away on December 8, 2008.  I was told by my doctors that I would not be able to travel to the funeral.  I am still in the middle of treatment.  I was recently hospitalized and learned that my cancer has spread into my left lung.  I also had a considerable build up of ascites (cancer) fluid that they drained while I was in the hospital.   So, because of my condition and health problems, I was unable to go back home to attend Grandpa's funeral and burial.  That was really heartbreaking.  He was the best grandpa, I have such wonderful memories that I will try to get down when I can.  I hate that I was not able to go and comfort my Grandma.  She is the strongest woman I know.  She is so beautiful, kind, and loving.

Regarding the above Bible verse and its relativity to the Christmas story;

It's a joy story, full of hope!  What is a more joyous occasion than the birth of a new baby?  The same holds true when our souls are reborn.  Given new birth with the ressurection of Jesus on the cross.

I thank you Father for giving your Son, Jesus to die on the cross to forgive us of our sins when we give our lives to Him.  Thank you for every day, every second, every moment, every breath that You allow my life to go on.  I love you...

Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.               Matthew 5:16
